Geo-data infrastructure and analysis (Task 1.4)

All variants of geothermal energy exploitation profit from an efficient access to available data such as bore hole characteristics, seismic data, etc.

The technical infrastructure to facilitate such an exchange is being developed within task 1.4 in close collaboration with swisstopo.

Current Projects

Relevant geothermal data from the environment of the SCCER-SoE shall be collected and stored on a swisstopo IT infrastructure for public interest. The database is developed in the project “GeoTherm” from swisstopo. The following raw data will be described and recorded: borehole log files, 2D / 3D active seismic surveys and passive seismic measurement for geothermal applications.

The Swiss Geology Data Model Suite (SGDMS) defines the structure of data of various spatial dimensions, e.g. points (boreholes), lines (geol. cross sections), 2D surfaces (geol. vector and raster maps), 3D surfaces and volumes (geological 3D-models) as well as purely semantic data (harmonised stratigraphy). The SGDMS is a work in progress, existing data models are continuously updated and new models added.
